LABOUR PARTY CONFERENCE GMEX MANCHESTER

Arrived Saturday 18th October Signs were displayed on the soap box:

FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Article 10 E.C.H.R. All are welcome to speak (for 3 minutes).

DOMICILE ALLOTMENTS
Imagine a Poly tunnel as long as a football field, 6 metre’s wide, partitioned every 10 metre’s, with a door crimped in the side with an anti condensation unit crimped on top. The greenhouse effect provides free lighting and heating, rain water could be caught and stored inside, providing fresh water and a heat sink, capturing heat during the day and giving it out at night, such a minimalistic structure could be constructed in minutes per unit and would provide a high tech low cost Eco abode reducing the necessity for transport, roads, power stations etc. providing self employment & fresh food. Allotment communities are great, ultra violet protected polythene is good for between 5-10 years and possibly recyclable? (See image above)

2 BANNERS WERE DISPLAYED:

BAN TOBACCO. Health Minister & Actors Smoking are enticing children into holocaust. 1 billion deaths this century (W.H.O.) That's 15 times greater than the total war dead of the 20th century. http://www.actorssmokingfilmstv.blogspot.com/

VEGETARIANISM - Planet & People Benefit! Gods Will (Gen. 1:29), Compassion, Climate change, Famine, De-forestation, Species extinction, Cruelty, Public health, Release of land, Efficient use of land, Cost of food, Economy, War, Etc.

My week’s main activity was speaking from the soap box (click link then click video) regarding Vegetarianism, Ban Tobacco, The Economy, Domicile Allotments (Plus other). Other people also spoke from the box- a lady from Remploy, Kids Count, A man complaining about the police wrongfully killing numerous people with fire arms. Spent a lot of time at the Convention of the left (An alternative conference-inclusive rather than exclusive) venue-“The Friends Meeting House” (Quakers)

On route to the conference on Princess Rd on Saturday, I displayed the BAN TOBACCO placard and shouted “Ban Tobacco”, probably to prime minister Gordon Brown (smoked glassed windowed car with police motor cycle escort.)

On Sunday arrived approx 8:30 am? With soap box and hand held placard displaying 2 banners one either side, I stated that the police were not allowed to interfere with freedom of speech under article 10 of the echr. I heard one of them say to his colleague “We don’t mind freedom of speech but we don’t like smart arses!” I then repeated this so everyone could here!

Caroline Flint walked passed -displaying the BAN TOBACCO banner I accused her of exempting actors from the smoking bans as in the 2006 Health Act and said it was actors smoking in films that was responsible for the enticement of children into the tobacco holocaust. (1 billion deaths this century) I invited her to defend her actions on the soap box she declined after acknowledging she got the message.

Later on Tessa Jowell walked passed who also declined the invitation to defend herself on the box, she asked me to lower my voice and get off the box! I said as loudly as possible that I was concerned about her and her husbands involvement in the Bernie Ecclestone-Max Mosley-Tony Blair-David Mills affair and also her, and her husband and Tony Blair’s involvement and deals: Co-production film contracts etc. (Money laundering?) with Sylvio Berlusconi. (I think Berlusconi & Mills still have corruption related charges hanging and face imprisonment in Italy?)

Loudly from the soap box "The Tobacco Industry is the filth of the World!"

Monday & Tuesday I think I must have addressed the entire conference from the soap box as they queue'd to get into conference, I asked John Prescott if he was a vegetarian he said, “Do I look like one” I said “No your a bit overweight", I asked Geoff Hoon if he would like to tell us about Iraq from the soap box but he declined, spoke with Charles Clark, Tony Benn, Neil Kinnock, Alistair Campbell- who I used know from the Daily Mirror Doorstep, chancellor Alistair Darling (click this link then read 2nd para-"Mad vegetarian" & then the comments) trying to persuade him that Vegetarianism could solve our economic, climate change, public health + other problems etc. I spoke to many others during my rantings about actors smoking enticing children into the tobacco holocaust, corrupt government, corrupt legislation 2002 Tobacco advertising and promotion act & 2006 Health act etc.

At some stage the clergy arrived (same as at Lib Dem conference) I again asked "Why was Jesus crucified" and again offered my view "Because he attacked the financial base of Jerusalem. Which was the buying selling and slaughter of animals!" (cleansing of the temple). Christians are supposed to be Vegetarian!
There are 2 questions all should ask themseves: 1. How do you account for creation? 2. Why am I here?

On Monday approx 12:30 I wanted to go to one of the meetings at the Quaker house (The alternative conference), I asked the constable next to me would it be OK to leave my soapbox? he said, “yes!” but on return 2 hour’s or so later it had gone! and the replacement officer PC19213 didn’t know anything about it! After making a considerable fuss and explaining there was a large police presence some with machine guns, some on horses, helicopters, CCTV s, etc. It would have been impossible for anybody to walk off with my soapbox undetected which was emblazoned with "FREEDOM OF SPEECH Article 10 ECHR." Whilst making a louder fuss to sergeant 1543 (Atherton Police station), WPC 12864 whispered in his ear, “The soapbox was deemed a security threat and taken by the street cleansers!”

On route to the Quakers (who kindly provided me with a alternative soap box-a broken wooden chair), I bumped into David Milliband who was in the centre of a swarm of press, I followed behind him displaying the Vegetarianism banner but special branch physically stopped me from entering the Town Hall!

Resuming to soap boxing mode I then began to brag to the queuing delegates that I was Britain's greenest man my lifestyle gave me the UK's lowest carbon footprint! I sleep outside in dustbin bags, ride a bike, am a Vegetarian & campaign for vegetarianism and Banning Tobacco!

Also had a dig at the police saying Aren't our policemen wonderful, remarked on the soapbox theft (Breach of article 10?) and read out the letter of complaint, sent to the chief constable regarding another contravention of article 10 at the conservative conference, last year at Blackpool.

I also mentioned that it was bad enough the Chief Constable being in bed with another man's wife, and with her being the head of the Chamber of Commerce it may have sinister overtones regarding police impartiality!

At one stage one of the delegates went into speech mode, so I passed the soapbox over the fence to him, a police inspector said that nothing is to be passed over the fence! After continuing with my rant the inspector said to the queue “should I move him,” they replied “No”.

When the queue of delegates dried up I spent my time at the alternative conference-Convention of the left at the Quaker House, it was there that I informed Jeremy Corbin MP. regarding the police seizing my soapbox -He said they had been talking about it! Also mentioned Vegetarianism and Domicile Allotments, he said he had an allotment, we spoke briefly about the inefficiency of growing meat and that the land required by one meat eater could feed 20 vegetarians! I later constructed a model of Domicile Allotments and showed it to him, the next day I made a better model. (See image above)

On Wednesday I bragged from the soapbox that "With these 7 wire coat hangers this cling-film & a piece of chalk I'm going to make Nuclear Power Station’s obsolete, provide free food, nearly free housing, improve public health stop climate change, famine, and all the other things it says on my vegetarian banner" I then set to work 20 minutes later job done, even the police were impressed. LIB-DEM CONFERENCE BICC BOURNEMOUTH 2008

Freedom of Speech at the Lib-Dem conference

Arrived BICC Friday 12/9/08, made 3 Soap Boxes from plastic crates and placed them at front, back and media entrance- for anybody to use, each with a sign: FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Article 10 E.C.H.R. All are welcome to speak (For 3 minutes.)

2 PLACARDS WERE DISPLAYED:

BAN TOBACCO. Health Minister & Actors Smoking are enticing children into holocaust.
1 billion deaths this century (W.H.O.) That's 15 times greater than the total war dead of the 20th century! http://www.actorssmokingfilmstv.blogspot.com/

VEGETARIANISM - Planet & People Benefit! Gods Will (Gen. 1:29), Compassion, Climate change, Famine, De-forestation, Species extinction, Cruelty, Public health, Release of land, Efficient use of land, Cost of food, Economy, War, Etc.

Several people made speeches from the box; a Hindu man spoke about God requiring us to be vegetarian and gave an excellent speech which was recorded on television (ITN?) also The “Scouts” spoke about scouting, “Kids Count” about knife crime, a black lady about vegetarianism and quite a few others. I spoke about the stupid economy, stupid houses, stupid nuclear power stations, the soap box being true democracy, the tobacco holocaust, and advocated mass vegetarianism as being a solution to a lot of our problems (As per placard), also Domicile Allotments as a life style - possibly confiscating land used for growing Oil Seed Rape for Bio Fuels and replacing with Domicile Allotments etc. (Made model at Labour conference). I was interviewed by Elena Goodman (Radio 4- A Week in West Minster Sat.11:30 am), ITN and national newspapers.

Was invited to a Fringe meeting inside the conference “STUBBING IT OUT-What Next after the Smoking Ban” (After arranging a security clearance.) hosted by the Health Hotel. I stated the reason why children started to smoke was because of actors smoking in films, role models etc. and laid the blame for the Tobacco Holocaust on Corrupt Governments! Mentioning the Bernie Ecclestone/Max Mosley/Tony Blair/ Tessa Jowell/ David Mills, affair, which was a strategy to destroy EC Directive 98/43/EC. (A blanket ban on tobacco ads. & promotion.) I also mentioned corrupt legislation: The “2002 Tobacco Advertising and Promotion Act” which omitted Actors Smoking in Films and was sponsored by Lord Clement Jones, the 2006 Health Act which exempted actors from the smoking bans via the Health Minister Caroline Flint!

Several Bishops and clergy arrived at the conference I loudly said to them from the soap box: “Could I ask one question”, Yes, “Why was Jesus crucified?” and then offered my view- “Jesus was crucified because he attacked the financial base of Jerusalem which was the buying, selling and slaughter of animals!” (The cleansing of the temple a few days prior to his death!) Interestingly all who responded agreed and one said there’s more- “he died to save the universe, because anything that’s worth anything is here on planet earth.”

Just across the road from the main entrance to the BICC and my soapbox was the “Climate Clinic”, (I used to think they were wonderful but I am now of the opinion there is a conflict of interest between the sponsors making money out of climate change and impartial debate!)I went to several Fringe Meetings - at the "Coal v Renewable's A Moral Choice?" When invited I stood up to ask a question but was interrupted by Greenpeace who arrested the Energy spokeswoman Sarah Vaughan from E.On for “Crimes Against Humanity” and handcuffed her (Click this link then then click the video to see what happened!) just prior to this during her speech I had heckled- “We don’t want nuclear power stations full stop!” when the meeting resumed I offered a simple no cost solution to climate change: (rather than grandiose expensive solution’s as suggested by some of the sponsor’s) “Mass Vegetarianism”, and displayed the placard: “VEGETARIANISM People & Planet Benefit...” the panel ignored my suggestion so I shouted “What about vegetarianism the simple solution? One of the organisers told me to take the sign outside, I refused, he said later that sponsor’s had paid to display their signs and that I had not!

The next day I returned with Jonathan Porrit, for the "Green Verdict On Environmental Politics 2007-8" Fringe meeting, and was told by the sound man before the meeting started to take the sign outside, I said it’s not offensive and refused, he said he would phone the police, I said “Please do”, I asked Steve Webb MP. on the panel: “Have I committed some sort of offence?”, he said “No”. Later the sign was confiscated by a female organiser (I retrieved it when leaving). I gave Jonathon Porrit a note - "If the chair is not favourable in his choice of speakers could you mention Vegetarianism, Domicile Allotments, Immorality of Bio Fuels", (The chair was not favourable & J.P. didn't get the opportunity).

Whilst on the soap box at the back of BICC displaying the BAN TOBACCO placard I invited the man from Forest-

(The so called Freedom organisation for the right to enjoy smoking tobacco.) He was handing out flyer's for the Freedom Zone meeting (sponsored by the tobacco industry!)

Tobacco addiction has nothing to do with freedom! Addiction is Slavery! The enticement of children into holocaust is a crime against God. (1 billion deaths this century W.H.O.))

Cont. to defend the Tobacco Industry on the soap box, just prior to this I had made a loud statement repeating what was said on the placard, and that the Tobacco Industry was the Filth of the World and that Jesus had said of those who would harm children; that it would be better for them if a large millstone be put around their neck and they drown in the depths of the ocean. He declined the invitation saying I only believed in Freedom of Speech for myself? said I was a dictator? He then departed.

I also said "There are 2 questions everyone should ask themsevles: 1) How do you account for creation? 2) Why am I here?

At the Media entrance whilst on the box & pointing to the VEGETARIANISM placard I said to Nick Clegg (Entering conference to make his speech). "This is the solution"-he did not respond.

POLICE ARRIVE AT CHURCH MEETING & ARREST VEGETARIAN 17/8/2008

The Church Meeting of City Temple Holborn Viaduct EC1.-Regarding Financial Irregularities. (Chair Dr. Rodney Woods - Pastor.)

The meeting started at 1:15pm at approx 2:40pm, so as not to disturb the speakers, I (Stuart Holmes) gave all present a small slip of paper, and then sat down. The pastors wife who is also the chef destroyed her slip of paper, displaying the remains she called over to her husband - "We need to sort this out now!" and that a disciplinary motion should be brought against myself, to prevent me distributing press release policy statements as below!#:

#Draft 3. POLICY STATEMENT CITY TEMPLE CHURCH LONDON EC1 & PRESS RELEASE 16/8/08. In line with Christian scripture, stewardship, compassion and having regard for: climate change, de-forestation, species extinction, cruelty, famine, efficient use of land, public health, cost of food & for the benefit of all; City Temple is adopting a vegetarian policy. We think it would be a good idea if all churches follow suit! Please comment to- Stuart Holmes - www.EatFruitVeg.blogspot.com

(Continued) The Pastor immediately obeyed, stating that I was disrupting the meeting! I pleaded that I had not said a word! and then complained that, "The disciplinary motion against me was for imparting Christian scripture and also that the promise to debate Christian stewardship had not materialised."

I was told to remain silent or leave the meeting; at this point Jill came over to me demanding that I leave, attempted to seize my papers, threatened me with the police and accused me of hitting her, she then phoned the police who arrived and said they could arrest me for Civil Trespass or Breach Of The Peace, which is what they did! (*See detail below)

Now all this is a bit ironic, as the discussion of the meeting repeatedly stated that the financial irregularities had come about because; people felt intimidated about speaking out regarding what was going on! Also the church spent too much time talking about money matters and not enough about Christian matters!

Vegetarianism is certainly a Christian issue, as well as the huge benefits of vegetarianism to the planet and people; Jesus crucifixion resulted from his actions in the temple a few days before his death, when he threatened the financial base of Jerusalem by attacking the killing of animals for food. (The cleansing of the temple.)

It was immediately after this the high priests and the authorities conspired to kill him! Also “Thou shalt not kill.” means "Thou shalt not kill anything!" Also Genesis 1:29 God says eat fruit and vegetables. Also Isaiah 1:10-25 God has no pleasure in the blood of Bulls Goats & Sheep. Isaiah 66:3 Whoever kills a bull is like someone who kills a person. Also Jesus (A vegetarian) said, "I require mercy not sacrifice." Also Gods Kingdom is one of non violence where the lion lies down with the lamb. etc.

In my opinion eating flesh is an abuse of Christian Stewardship and debases Christianity!

*When the police arrived they asked me to leave, I explained that I had done nothing wrong and that I had not broken the law. Also that it was my understanding that on private property an injunction was required for my removal and they would not get one because I had done nothing wrong, also my actions were in accordance with Article 10 of the European Charter of Human Rights (The right to receive and impart information and ideas) the police were insistent that I leave because I had been disruptive, I showed them the slip of paper that I had handed to all those seated at the meeting. (And had then sat down)- There was no disruption on my behalf!

I also repeatedly asked under what section of what Act were they going to remove me they said Civil Trespass, Breach Of The Peace, Pace, I also informed them that Jill had attempted to seize my papers and had accused me of hitting her, they said that she had made no such complaint to them, also in the presence of the police Rod (Pastor) declined to repeat the nature of the alleged disruption he had made to the police.

The two officers were then joined by two more who declined to inform me under what law they were acting, and when PC 254 took hold of me I informed him that he was breaking the law! (There was no formal arrest.) I was later given a carbon copy ref. number 08/32504/5 stating- “Removed from premises, Prevention of Breach Of The Peace.” police officers present- B254, B347, B398 B818.

HEALTHY FREEDOM OF SPEECH

If the Health Minister can’t do this, who can?

Anbumani Ramadoss
“I am responsible for the health of the nation”
Tobacco and alcohol together make a perfect recipe for early death

Creativity as an art should be used for improving lives instead of taking them

Healthy criticism and freedom of speech, I always thought, were the strengths of a mature society. As an individual, I have always welcomed criticism – in fact accepted it graciously for it is a participatory process and helps improve performance. But criticism loses credibility when targeted against an individual only because he dares to speak courageously and with conviction against social evils. I have been a victim of this uncalled-for criticism.

Global appreciation
My campaigns against tobacco, alcohol, and junk food have drawn flak within the country, although globally the efforts of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry have been appreciated. I have said time and again that 40 per cent of the health problems in India are due to the use of tobacco in its various forms. Tobacco and alcohol together make a perfect recipe for early death. As the Health Minister of a nation of a billion people, I am responsible for their health and well-being. After the ban on advertisements promoting the use of tobacco products and alcohol, there was a huge debate on banning smoking on screen. I sometimes wonder whether asking personalities not to glamorise smoking and drinking was such an unreasonable demand that the entire film industry should be up in arms against me.

Over a million deaths in India occur due to tobacco use and, according to a World Health Organisation (WHO) study, 15 per cent of school children in India use tobacco. Experts also say smoking scenes in movies are more effective than direct forms of tobacco advertisements. Surveys have shown that 52 per cent of youngsters start smoking after being influenced by movies.

It is, therefore, not difficult to imagine the kind of impact smoking in films has on our youth, particularly in the context of more brand visibility of cigarette companies in films. India produces the largest number of movies in the world (900 in 2001). In the 1950s, 30 per cent of films had smoking scenes with the percentage touching 89 in 2004. It is equally important to consider the characters depicted as smokers in the movies. In the 1950s, only villains or the ‘bad guys’ smoked on screen. Now, 76 per cent of the smoking scenes are by heroes and lead characters. Is it unreasonable if at least this influence on our youth could be reduced?

Godfrey Philips Red and White Bravery Awards are given to 10 people for saving 10 lives but, ironically, the tobacco company causes the death of three million people worldwide annually!......
